"Our approach begins with establishing a thorough understanding of a site's historic context through archival research, material assessment, and documentation. This work helps to record and communicate the resource's value and guides the creative opportunities for future interventions" |
"We believe Historic Presentation is a critical component of sustainable design. Through the reuse of existing structures and landscapes, we can reduce material consumption and waste, extend the life of embodied energy, and encourage investment in existing communities" |
"Historic Preservation does not rely on the mimicry of historic forms. It is a tool to evaluate, manage, and respond to change in the environment. It acknowledges time as a fundamental aspect of culture, and technology, as a way to meaningfully engage with, sustain, and shape the built world" |
